Annual “Forty Under 40” awards honour Ottawa’s business elite
Ottawa, Ontario — May 14, 2002
Global IQX Inc. is pleased to announce that Michael de Waal, Global IQX president and CEO, has been recognized by the Ottawa Business Journal as one of the top forty leaders in the business community.
The “Forty Under 40” is an annual listing of Ottawa’s business elite under the age of 40. Recipients are honoured for their high level of achievement and demonstration of leadership both inside and outside of the boardroom.
“I’m honoured to be recognized by the Ottawa Business Journal and the community with this award,” said Michael de Waal, president and CEO of Global IQX. “Global IQX has always aimed to provide leadership within the insurance community and being included as one of the forty recipients is a gratifying endorsement of our efforts.”
Recipients of the award were selected through ratings in three different categories: professional abilities and success, professional recognition and community involvement.
Founded by de Waal, Global IQX developed and introduced to the industry the IQX Platform, which enables insurance carriers to quote their products over the Internet and streamlines the archaic quoting and enrollment processes. In addition to demonstrating a strong business sense and an acute ability to innovate, de Waal was awarded for dedicating his time with an array of volunteer efforts including the Dutch Canadian Association, the Kancar Children’s Community Association, the Friendship Windmill and the Dutch Village Committee for the Canadian Tulip Festival.
The winners were profiled in the May 13, 2002 issue of the Ottawa Business Journal. The Forty Under 40 awards will be presented tonight at the Fairmont Chateau Laurier in Ottawa, Ontario.
